Release, reset, and reconnect through breath.

What Is Breathwork, and Conscious Connected Breathwork in Particular?
Breathwork is a name given to a wide field of practices that use the breath as a tool: to calm the nervous system, to access deeper layers of the self, to release what has been quietly held in the body. Its roots stretch back to ancient Eastern traditions like pranayama, and were brought into a modern Western form in the second half of the twentieth century, when practitioners began to notice that intentional breathing could reach the same states that other healing approaches were reaching, gently and naturally.
This Western evolution owes much to one particular turning point. In the 1950s and 60s, Czech-American psychiatrist Stan Grof conducted thousands of LSD therapy sessions and witnessed extraordinary therapeutic results. When LSD and other psychedelics were criminalised in the early 1970s, Grof and his wife Christina set out to find a drug-free way to reach the same deep states. In 1976, at the Esalen Institute in California, they developed Holotropic Breathwork - combining accelerated breathing, evocative music, and bodywork.
Their work, and the lineage that grew from it, has been a guiding thread in my own.
The breathwork I work with at Pink Griffin is Conscious Connected Breathwork (CCB), a particular form within this wider field, originally developed in the 1970s by Leonard Orr and evolved through many lineages since. CCB is the framework I hold each session within, but within that framework, I draw on different breathing techniques as the moment asks: gentler breaths to settle the body, more dynamic breaths to activate, and longer connected breaths for the deeper core of the work. CCB itself is deceptively simple. You breathe in a continuous, circular rhythm: no pauses between the inhale and the exhale, in and out through the same channel for an extended period, supported by music and held within a clear container. What that simple change unlocks is not simple at all. The continuous breath shifts your blood chemistry, gently quietens the part of the brain responsible for overthinking and inner criticism, and moves the body's wave state from ordinary alertness into something closer to deep meditation or dreaming. From that quieter place, what has been held below the surface: emotion, memory, sensation is given the room to shift.

Who It’s For?
Breathwork meets people at many points in their lives: those seeking a reset, those processing grief or change, those navigating something they cannot quite articulate, and those simply curious to learn how their breath can shape their inner world.
It may be right for you if you are navigating any of the following:
Emotional & psychological
-
Stress, anxiety, or a nervous system that will not settle
-
Grief, anger, or emotion you have not yet found a way to move
-
Repeating patterns you recognise but cannot seem to step out of
-
A wish for clarity about relationships, direction, or purpose
-
Wanting to regulate your nervous system more skilfully
-
Working alongside therapy, and looking for something that meets the body rather than only the mind
Physical & energetic
-
Chronic tension or the holding patterns of long-term stress
-
Fatigue or a sense of being disconnected from your body
-
Sleep that is shallow or restless
-
Wanting to feel more present, more grounded, more here
Breathwork is also sought by people who are already well in body and mind, but who want to deepen self-awareness, enter states of expanded consciousness - psychedelic-like experience, and to meet the parts of themselves that ordinary waking life does not reach.
This work is not for everyone. We will speak before any session is confirmed to ensure that breathwork is appropriate and safe for you. Some health conditions are contraindicated; in those cases, a gentler nose-breathing practice may be offered instead.

What to Expect
A breathwork session at Pink Griffin is held as a ceremony, not a clinical exercise. It runs for approximately two to three hours (session with a gong journey).
1. Before we begin
2. Settling into the breath
3. The main practice
4. What you may feel
5. Closing and sharing
Before we begin
We open the space together, set our intentions (aloud or quietly) and prepare an altar with meaningful objects. You are welcome to bring your own sacred object to place on it, if you would like.
Settling into the breath
The session might begin with a short meditation and some light breathwork or movement, to bring your body and mind into the room and prepare you for what follows.
The main practice
The core of the session is approximately one hour and fifteen minutes of Conscious Connected Breathwork, supported by a carefully chosen
playlist. Music is not background here, it is a guide, a carrier. The breath and the music together create the conditions in which deeper experience becomes possible. Alongside the music, I may also draw on shamanic tools: rattles, drum, voice, shamanic journeying with specific intention, to deepen and accompany the journey.Sessions can also be held in silence instead. A different kind of container, offering its own depth and inner journey.Sometimes, depending on the flow of the session, I also bring in live music, voice and instruments to gently return you to the room as the practice closes.
What you may feel
The body has its own response to this kind of breathing, and no two sessions are alike. You may feel tingling in your hands or face, temperature shifts, waves of
emotion, deep stillness, or moments of expanded awareness. Some people cry; some laugh; some find themselves quietly resting in a place they did not know existed inside them. All of it is part of the body's own work and none of it is an emergency.
Closing and sharing
Before we close the space, there is time to rest, return slowly, and share what arose, if you wish. Sharing is part of integration, it grounds the experience and lets the insights begin to settle.
Booking a CCB Session and Pricing
Every session is shaped around you: your intention, your body, your readiness, and the modalities that fit the moment. Below are the main ways I work. If you are unsure which is right for you, please start with a conversation; we will find the right shape together.
To book, please either get in touch directly or complete the CCB questionnaire. Once the screening conversation has been completed and you are good to go, we will agree on a time and location together. You will then receive an email with payment instructions (online, bank transfer, or cash) and the booking terms.

Ceremonies at Your Home
Holding the ceremony at your home offers the comfort of familiar surroundings and removes the need to travel afterwards. For this to work safely, the space must meet a few conditions:
-
A private, dedicated room: strictly no observers or pets present during the session
-
Absolute privacy throughout the whole session
-
Access to a kettle for hot water (if applicable)
-
Access to a kitchen to heat the soup after the ceremony (if applicable)
I arrive 45 minutes before the start time to prepare the space, and stay afterwards to clean up.
Please Note: Prices listed cover the ceremony itself. For sessions held at your home, a travel charge of £1.30 per mile (round-trip from my home in New Alresford, Hampshire, UK) applies, covering fuel, car use, and my time on the road.

How We Work Together
Breathwork is a deeply personal practice, and the way we work together is shaped by that.
Everything begins with a conversation and completion of an online questionnaire. Before any session is confirmed, I will ask about your health history, your intention, and whether this is the right moment for this type of work. There is no rush, and no obligation.
Your breath leads the process. My role is to hold the container with care, to support the journey with music and presence, and to follow what your body is doing, not to direct it.
You are always in charge of how deep, how fast, and how long you breathe. Real change does not come from being pushed; it comes from feeling safe enough to start letting go slowly. There are no forced breakthroughs here, and we are not looking for explosive emotional releases that can overstretch your nervous system. My work is rooted in trauma awareness, and I encourage you to stay within what your body can hold.
After the breath, the work continues. Integration: the slow process of letting the experience settle into your everyday life is where lasting change lives. Rest, journalling, time with nature, honest conversation, and gentleness with yourself in the day or two that follow all support that process at least. I remain available between sessions if you would like to talk through what came up.
Safety & Support
Conscious Connected Breathwork is generally safe, but its physiological effects mean it is not appropriate for everyone. A thorough conversation before the session helps us decide together whether full CCB is right for you, or whether a gentler practice would be a better fit.
Conditions that require caution or modification
If any of the following apply, we may still be able to work together, with a modified nose-breathing practice instead, and with care taken at every stage. Please mention them when we speak:

-
Unmanaged PTSD or severe panic attacks
